Đặng Ánh was born into a Buddhist family facing many difficulties. Her father was an alcoholic, her sister was disabled, and her mother struggled to keep the family together. Before knowing Christ, Ánh was addicted to video games, frequently lied, stole small things, and was extremely lazy. His mood was unpredictable, and due to poor academic performance, he dropped out of school early. With no clear direction in life, Ánh spent most of his time playing video games, eventually becoming addicted without realizing it. There were days when he would play nonstop, day and night, without feeling tired or bored.

Ánh was also a habitual liar, so much so that he couldn’t even distinguish between truth and lies. Laziness was another characteristic of his, to the point where he jokingly considered himself the “king of laziness.” While most people bathe daily, Ánh would go four or five days without bothering to take a shower.
One day, Pastor David Tô and Deacon Giăng visited Ánh’s home to share the Gospel. Although Ánh listened and accepted Christ during their visit, he didn’t fully believe at that time. However, after experiencing a significant life event, Ánh felt God’s love and grace and realized that Jesus truly cared for him. This led him to commit to attending church and studying God’s Word with the other believers.
From that point on, Ánh’s life was transformed in ways he could never have imagined. Once addicted to video games, he completely gave them up. The self-conscious and dishonest person he once was became a distant memory, as God removed those negative traits from his life. The transformation was so profound that even Ánh himself couldn’t recognize the person he had become.
Not only did God change Ánh’s heart and character, but He also surrounded Ánh with a community of wonderful friends in Christ. These relationships helped Ánh become more confident in social settings, both with his friends and with new people.
God’s blessings didn’t stop there. Ánh, once unemployed and uncertain about his future, was given a stable and suitable job by God. This job provided financial stability, allowing Ánh to help support his mother and his disabled sister. Today, Ánh is actively serving in his local home church group, fully embracing the new life that God has given him.
