Pastor Lu-ca (Hre tribe)

“After all, no matter what our earthly consequences, what are they compared to our heavenly gains?” (The Voice of the Martyrs)

Before becoming a Christ-follower, my father worked as a witch-doctor, casting spells, and exorcizing ghosts. For this reason, my siblings were all seriously ill, and every time they went to bed they were oppressed by demons. My father tried everything to heal them, but all 7 of my brothers passed away. I was the youngest child who survived. I was very scared and desperate. In that desperate situation, a servant of God from the K’ho tribe came to testify Jesus to me, and I opened my heart to salvation.

After my conversion, I experienced peace beyond understanding in my life. I no longer feared the oppression of the devil, but had hope in God. My heart began to be enthusiastic, I went out to testify and talk about God to everyone. Even though I did not know much, I just shared my innocent testimony and led people to the Lord by a simple prayer. Amazingly, there were so many people who opened their hearts and turned to Him.

When the authorities found out about this, they immediately arrested me, forced me to do hard labor, and tortured me many times. Once they used a stick to hit me on the head, broke my skull. Many times they drowned me in a bucket of water to death… burned my two houses, confiscated all the land and chased me out of my village many times. They shamed me in front of the people and warned everyone to stay away from me.

Whoever listened to me and followed Christ would be severely punished. But I felt the Spirit of God upon me urged me to continue preaching Jesus to my people. By God’s grace, many people repented and believed God and we established two churches in the midst of that very difficult time.

I continued to be hunted down, arrested, brutally beaten and imprisoned for 3 years for illegally sharing the Gospel. But thank God very much, while I was detained, the believers and new believers that I led to the Lord still maintained their faith, still risked their lives to gather together to pray and worship God in secret house meetings and continue to testify about Jesus to many others.

After three years in prison, I returned home with more fire to preach the Gospel and plant more churches. My desire is to tell my people about Jesus, set them free from the power of darkness, from poverty, from curses, from deception and be brought to the kingdom of light. Every week I go out to share the gospel, I am not afraid of prison, rain, heat, difficulties, or long distances. Currently, God entrusts me to lead 6 churches, giving me supernatural health to serve God in my sixties, giving unspeakable joy. God also compensated me for my previous losses. God gave me a happy family, my children love God and I have a good house to live in and a good motorbike to go to all the places I wish to share the gospel.

Spiritual lessons:

  • God’s grace and His word helped me overcome my fears.
  • When you are determined to stand for God and the Gospel, the devil will have to run.
  • God has a purpose and plan for each of our lives on this earth. We must fulfill the will of God in our lives by living as a witness for God where we are. No one can hinder God’s will in our lives.
⦁ Everything will pass but God’s will remain.
⦁ Actually, those who believe in God and serve God do not lose anything but on the contrary they gain many things: eternal life, peace, joy, strength… and God’s reward. I experienced that very clearly in my life.
  • Let God use you to save your own people, there are still many people who have never once heard the Gospel.
