Abay, a man from the H’lang tribe living near the Laos-Vietnam border, grew up in poverty and was deeply entrenched in the worship of local mountain and river gods. Despite being a father of five, he succumbed to drug addiction, causing pain and suffering to his family. For seven years, Abay was trapped, unable to break free despite his desire to quit.

One day, Abay attended a church service after a friend invited him. Though he didn’t recall much from the sermon, one phrase stuck with him: “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” That night, he cried out to God in his dark room, where he experienced a powerful visitation of the Holy Spirit. A great light filled the room, and he suddenly felt the weight of addiction lifted off his shoulders. The next morning, Abay woke up completely free from the desire for drugs—a miraculous healing from God.
After the incident, Abay was encouraged by a friend to join Pastor’s Discipleship Program for 3 years, he decided follow that wise advice. With the guidance and discipleship at the Bible Institute, Abay was delivered completely from his addiction and transformed into a loving husband and father. His life change was evident to everyone around him. Abay was filled with a passion to testify about God’s power and began traveling to share his story.
Today, Abay leads a network of house churches in the mountainous regions and actively spreads the Gospel among his people and across the border into Laos.
