Bible Passage: Acts 4:1-13
Key Verse:
“When they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)
As children of God, we are called to become bold men and women.
Bold to fight for what you believe.
Bold to pay the price and protect godly values.
Bold to admit mistakes, apologize when wrong, and take responsibility.
Bold to live for Christ.
Bold to follow God’s calling… Many know God is calling them, but fear holds them back.
Bold to fight for your family… to protect your family from the influence, attacks of illness, the enemy, and the world.
What is Boldness? Boldness is being confident in the Lord and His abilities. (Hebrews 11 describes men of faith as bold in battle, causing the enemy armies to flee.)
1/ Boldness is visible.
“When they saw the boldness of Peter and John…”
2/ Boldness is astonishing and draws attention.
“They were astonished…”
3/ Boldness doesn’t depend on education or social status.
“You don’t need to be highly educated or famous to be bold. Peter and John were unschooled, ordinary men…”
If Peter and John could be bold, so can you and I.
In fact, the more we know, the more fears and worries can grow.
Key #1: Boldness comes from having been with Jesus.
Boldness can be caught through association. When you associate with people of boldness and faith, that spirit of boldness can spread to you.
Jesus was bold. In John 18:1-6, when the Roman soldiers came to arrest Him, Jesus “stepped forward” and answered, “I am He.” He faced difficulties head-on, took responsibility, and did not back down or blame others.
He was a bold man.
Spend time with those who speak boldly, act boldly, and are full of faith—you’ll catch that spirit too.
Boldness can also be imparted through intimacy with Jesus. When you remain in His presence and become aware of Him, boldness flows from that relationship.
Key #2: Boldness comes from being filled with the Holy Spirit.
“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.” (Acts 4:31-33)
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is essential for maintaining boldness in our walk with God.
